About Us
The SC250 Charleston Arts and Cultural Council was created in the Spring of 2023 to bring arts and cultural organizations, individual artists, and creatives in the Charleston area together to work on organizing, promoting, and supporting events and programs related to the 250th anniversary of the US, the American Revolution, and our nation’s founding.

WE INVITE YOU
Become A Member
Membership is open to Arts and Cultural organizations and institutions, artists, and creatives located in or doing business in Charleston, SC. There is no fee for participation. SC250 Charleston Arts & Culture Membership requirements include:
- Registering with the Council (provide basic organizational information).
- Providing information about activities planned and/or confirmed that relate to 250th anniversary, the American Revolution, or the founding of our nation.
- Attending quarterly meetings and participating on committees as available.
WHERE WE'VE BEEN AND WHERE WE'RE GOING
Milestones
2016
A bill passed in the US Congress created the United States Semiquincentennial Commission.
2018
The SC General Assembly chartered SC250, with the mission of celebrating and promoting South Carolina’s role in the American Revolution.
January 17, 2023
The Charleston County Council recognized and approved the Charleston County 250 Committee.
May 4, 2023
The SC250 Charleston Arts and Cultural Council was formed.
