As part of the America 250 Carolina Week celebration, The Sound of Charleston presents a free concert honoring Charleston’s distinctive place in America’s rich musical story. This 75-minute program will feature gospel spirituals, selections from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Rhapsody in Blue, Civil War camp songs, light classics associated with the Saint Cecilia Society, and America the Beautiful. Presented in the historic setting of Circular Congregational Church, the concert invites audiences to experience the voices, traditions, and musical influences that have shaped Charleston and the nation across generations. This event is free and open to the public.
