Military Salute Regatta
Military Salute Regatta A Charleston sailing tradition honoring those who serve

The Military Salute Regatta is a Charleston tradition created by the Charleston Ocean Racing Association to honor active-duty service members, veterans, and the families and community that stand behind them. What began six years ago as an idea, pairing military participants with local skippers for a day on the water, has grown into a meaningful experience on Charleston Harbor, followed by celebration, fellowship, and support of veteran-focused nonprofits with hundreds of participants from across the nation.
There’s a quiet historical echo in it all. In 1776, the US Navy was still in its infancy, taking on the powerful Royal British Navy that dominated the seas—an early reflection of courage and determination that still defines those who serve today.
Through the excitement of sailing, the regatta offers a genuine way to say thank you, while raising funds and awareness for Veterans on Deck and Friends of Fisher House Charleston. It is competitive, welcoming, distinctly Charleston, and built around camaraderie on and off the water.
Friday May 29th and Saturday 30th. Here is a link to the weekend's full schedule: https://militarysaluteregatta.com/race-information-and-documents/
