LIBERTY! A concert saluting the defenders of Fort Sullivan, June 28, 1776

The Charleston Concert Band performs a powerful musical tribute to the Battle of Fort Sullivan

LIBERTY! A concert saluting the defenders of Fort Sullivan, June 28, 1776

The Charleston Concert Band, representing adult volunteer musicians from across the Lowcountry, present this program as part of the SC250 Charleston celebration. The concert features music representing the events and emotions of the American Revolution, and especially the events around the Battle of Ft. Sullivan. The highlight of the program is the World Premiere of an original composition by nationally known composer Jay Bocook. This new work features music of the period, and incorporates them with original music to evoke the feelings, hopes and fears of the defenders of the little palmetto fort, as well as the citizens of Charleston, who witnessed the battle from the city waterfront. The audience will be treated to an emotionally powerful musical experience.
