On a breezy morning, in the place where it first flew, we reflected on the bold symbolism of South Carolina’s first flag. The blue field and crescent – emblems of our colony’s push for liberty from Great Britain. So many of our wonderful partners made history come alive in this commemoration – thank you to everyone who contributed from our demonstrators to our speakers. It was the perfect 250th anniversary of SouthCarolina‘s first flag raising.

This past weekend, SC250 Charleston and the SC Battleground Trust gathered at historic Fort Johnson on James Island to commemorate the 250th anniversary of SouthCarolina’s first flag raising ✨

Special thanks to @Milo @america250 America’s Field Trip Awardee) and @Hannah @nationalparkservice Volunteer of the Year), who opened the program with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Salute to the South Carolina Flag.
