South Carolina 250 has commissioned a new film focused on the 1776 Battle of Sullivan’s Island. This 13-minute film includes exciting live-action recreations, animated battle maps, and more.
Outnumbered and outgunned, the improbable victory at the Battle of Sullivan’s Island on June 28, 1776, stunned the British and bolstered Patriot morale—heroes ranging from Col. William Moultrie and Sgt. William Jasper emerged from the battle, as well as state icons including the palmetto tree and blue flag with the white crescent. But do South Carolinians today know much about this pivotal engagement? To elevate interest and awareness of this battle on the eve of its 250th anniversary, South Carolina 250 has commissioned a new film designed to improve our appreciation of this event that we commemorate each year as Carolina Day.
